Do you know that there are over 200 million pieces of mailletters, parcels, magazines, newspapers, advertisements, and other such thingssent and delivered in the United States every day? And when you think that just one piece in that daily 200 million may be a letter for you from your friend in Timbuctooor right around the corner in your own townand that letter is delivered right to your door, you realize that the postman is a wonderful person. That is true of postmen all over the United States, and the rest of the world too. All your friend had to do to send that letter was to write the proper address, and paste the proper stamp on the envelope. Then in a day or two that letter was delivered to you, perhaps thousands of miles away. But sending and receiving messages, letters, and packages was not always so easy nor were they delivered so fast. |
